GIR, gnome introspection¶

1. An XML format called GIR containing introspection information
2. python package to create and parse the GIR format
3. scanner to generate GIR format from C source and headers
4. a typelib similar to xpcom/msole which stores the information on disk in a binary format
5. a compiler to compile the typelib from a xml format (and vice versa)
6. C library to read the typelib

Having this JHBuild setup will not affect your main system, so there is no need to run the GNOME Shell inside a virtual machine. To run the GNOME Shell inside a virtual machine would require good 3D support, and we don't know of any virtualization system that can handle it. In particular, problems have been reported with the GNOME Shell and the 3D support in VirtualBox.

Instead of changing the language, why not develop tools that make development less tedious. We need better editors (besides vim, emacs, nano, and gedit), better debuggers, more documentation, better toolchains, more tutorials, and scripts for writing all that boring boilerplate code.
