Use nvi instead of vi.
When editing .cfg files in the fritz box, vi is not an option. Instead use "nvi". This is a script made by AVM. It will copy the data in the .cfg to a normal format, allow you to edit it, and write it back in the special format that is needed.

First thing to do is switch-on telnet by dialing #96*7*
You will need putty or a dosbox to make a telnet connection to your fitz!box.
The file you need to edit is /var/flash/voip.cfg. It can be edited using
nvi /var/flash/voip.cfg
The interesting lines are:
use_audiocodecs = no; audiocodecs = "PCMA", "PCMU", "G726-32";
Changing the no to a yes makes the fritz box use the codecs in a preference order shown in the second line.

AVM’s Fritz!Box is a very flexible and well packaged system with a comprehensive set of features. It connects to the PSTN using a Y-cable that plugs into both ports of the master phone socket. Regular phones plugged into the device can dial out using the PSTN or through VoIP accounts loaded into the box – and it is easy to use dialling rules to set up preferences.
With a flat-rate dialling plan from our PSTN provider, we preferred to have all ports dial the PSTN, and use VoIP only if our PSTN line was busy. Surprisingly, the Fritz!Box was the only product that allowed this.
Setting up Wi-Fi security is very straightforward using AVM’s Stick & Surf USB dongle. Plugging the stick into the Fritz!Box installs WPA2 security codes, while inserting the same stick into a PC loads drivers, security data, and sets up a connection.
Even without Stick & Surf, the Fritz!Box has an easy Wi-Fi set-up, as each box has a unique default key, which is printed on a label on the bottom of the device, that can be entered into a PC. Wi-Fi can be disabled by a button at the back of the box.
The VoIP support is comprehensive, with excellent logging. Phone calls and usage are stored on the box, and can be emailed regularly to a specified email address. It is also possible to use the box as a gateway – dial it from another number, and it can use the internet to dial you through to numbers abroad.
The Fritz!Box does have a firewall but AVM keeps the standard settings under cover, so that users cannot turn it off by mistake. This may be a drawback for companies that want the to be able to apply specific settings on a firewall, but over the course of our test, we did not find that this feature inhibited us in any way.

tip je takođe problem caller-ida uspio riješiti tako što je usmjerio fritz!box logging na asterisk pa onda hvatao te evente, sa nekom perl AGI skriptom ispravljao caller-id ...

Asterisk on 7270: Workaround available :-)¶
Status update ( 27.01.2008 ):
Mit einem für den 7270 kompilierten "rd.ko" Modul - thanks an heini66 - funktioniert das * ( v1.3/1.4.16.2 ) nach ersten Tests ohne Probleme ( auch das AVM Web Interface funktionert ! ).
Bis zur Einbindung der "rd.ko" in das cfg_asterisk14 Script müssen die hier von spblinux beschriebenen Schritte vor der Installation durchgeführt werden.
Alternativ klappt es auch wenn das "rd.ko" File in das addons Verzeichnis runtergeladen ( wget http://spblinux.de/fbox.new/7270/rd.ko ) wird.
Erfahrungsbereichte hier posten.

Hi,
dieser Thread soll dazu dienen Fragen und erste Erfahrungen mit der Installation des * v1.2/1.4.16.2 auf der 7270 zentral zusammenzufassen ( draft ).
Da wir derzeit noch keine 7270 haben, werden wir die 7270'er der Community für Tests nutzen
Known-Bugs / Workaraounds:
1. das Kernel-Modul rd.ko in * v1.2/1.4.16.2 ist auf dem 7270'er Kernel nicht lauffähig
-> workaround ist vorhanden ( beschreibe ich später )
2. nach der Installation des Astersik ( nur "Root-Install" Option möglich, wg. rd.ko issue ) scheint der http-Server nicht mehr zu funktionieren
-> weitere Analyse steht noch aus

uradio /etc/init.d/rc.network restart
i nakon toga ulovio ip adresu koju je uređaj dobio

4.2.Asterisk permanent in der Box speichern, USB-Stick--Variante¶
Da Asterisk im Flashspeicher viel Platz braucht, wird es unter Umständen mit der Zeit eng.
Wer glücklicher Besitzer einer 7170 ist, kann Asterisk auch auf einem USB-Stick installieren(mit "cgf_asterisk usb_install", siehe 2.).
Einen schönerern Texteditor als nvi liefert der Midnight Commander mit, der sich ebenfalls auf die Fritzbox installieren läßt.
Um diese Version dann auch automatisch zu starten, muß in der Datei /var/flash/debug.cfg folgendes eingetragen werden:

conevrsion to english firmware¶
Conversion is no longer difficult or risky these days.
The bootloader must be set to avme to allow the English annex-B firmware, e.g. 29.04.56. The modem can be set to annex A anytime (independently from the bootloader setting) by means of the pseudoimage fritz_as_annex_a_kernel_args_newer.tar . The ADSL modem will stay with it's annex-A or B setting and this setting will even survive a recovery. But you must always update with annex B firmware since your bootloader is set to annex B.
If you got a German Fritzbox all you got to do is
1) set the branding to avme (quote SETENV firmware_version avme or use the avme pseudoimage) to allow the English firmware update/recovery
2) recover to the latest English annex-B Firmware
3) set the modem to annex A using the annex-A pseudoimage

Summary in English:
Annex A or B kernel args only affect the ADSL modem's operation mode. Please don't get confused with the bootloader's environment variables (SETENV). SETENV annex and SETENV firmware_version only determine what kind of firmware is allowed to be loaded (language and major version - 29.04.xx or 58.04.xx). Both 29 and 58 firmware can run on both annex-a and annex-b hardware models without major differences in performance. However, a 29-to-58 conversion or vice versa can be difficult, especially with the older v1 hardware (HWRevision 94.1.0.0). Fortunately, with the release of the English 29 version it is no longer necessary.
