Description

The Nokia Qt SDK leverages the power of the Qt framework and tools, combining them with tools designed to streamline the creation of applications for Symbian and the Maemo platform.

This initial beta release enables developers to explore the potential of these tools and experience the convenience offered by the Qt Simulator, which enables applications for Symbian and Maemo devices to be tested on a computer.

Limitations

• Support is not provided for the Smart Installer for Symbian.
• The Nokia N900 mobile computer will support applications created with this beta in the forthcoming version 10.2010.09-3 firmware update.
• The Linux version of this beta provides for compiling to Maemo only.

Ovi Store will be accepting applications created with the Nokia Qt SDK in the near future. Stay tuned for more announcements and instructions on submitting.

A final version of the SDK, for commercial software development, will be available in the third quarter of 2010.

This release will include support for compiling Symbian applications in the Linux version and a full implementation of the SDK for Apple Mac computers.

Supported operating systems

• 32- or 64-bit Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.
• 32-bit Ubuntu Linux 7.04.
• 64-bit Ubuntu Linux 7.04.

Each installer is available in offline and online versions. The offline installer includes the entire Nokia Qt SDK, while the online version downloads the software when run on your computer.

The meego-iso.vdi VirtualBox images was created using mrec's guide.
The guide replaces the meego kernel and initrd with that of 
Ubuntu 9.10's.

The meego-x86.vdi VirtualBox image was create by _Sky_. This
image has a new kernel configuration that allows it to run
on VirtualBox.

To install and start X11 run the following commands

Using Meego with a Ubuntu 9.10 kernel

1. get the meego usb image
2. mount the usb image and update the syslinux directory

cd /tmp
mkdir /tmp/meego
mount -oloop,offset=512 meego-preview-netbook-core-20100330-001.usbimg /tmp/meego
wget http://www.sundtek.de/support/syslinux.tar.gz
cd meego
rm -rf syslinux
tar xvzf /tmp/syslinux.tar.gz
cd /tmp
umount /tmp/meego

3. boot up meego
